The Danbury Library is preparing to launch its 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” with a kickoff celebration June 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program encourages readers of all ages to track their reading and compete for prizes including an iPad, amusement park tickets, and special experiences with the Danbury Fire and Police Departments. Mayor Roberto Alves has also issued a community challenge, agreeing to be slimed at the library’s August 14 celebration if at least 700 readers sign up for the summer program.
