A 39 year old New York State woman triggered a multi-agency emergency response after reporting a burning sensation while opening a piece of mail at her home. Police say the Carmel woman called 9-1-1 as crews from Carmel Police, fire, EMS, and the Putnam County HazMat team responded. The letter was examined and determined not to be hazardous. The woman declined medical treatment. Meanwhile, officials continue to look into what caused the reaction.
